Several years ago, when my granddaughters were still very young, I used to tell them stories about a turtle that always occupied the little log just outside of Hertford. We would drive by on that scenic road approaching the “S” bridge approaching Hertford and see “Clyde,” the little turtle that had been there for over 400 years. He was very old.
