In 1964, I bought tickets for a brand-new musical which I have since seen at every opportunity on stage, at the movies, and on TV. “Fiddler On The Roof” is my favorite musical of all time. So I took notice when College of The Albemarle announced it as part of their performing arts season.
Having just spent Sunday afternoon in the village of Anatevka, I am writing to encourage everyone to take the time to travel back a century or so with this production. It is a timeless story of faith, family and community which is wonderfully recreated by the COAST Players and an 11-piece orchestra. I could find no fault with the acting, music, choreography, set design, lighting, etc. The production fully satisfied my passion for this great work of American musical theater.
Thank you, COAST, for the laughter and tears. “On the other hand,” there are five more performances: Thursday at 10 a.m., Friday at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Ticket info is available by calling 335-9050.
Don’t miss it!
