LETTER: Suttons’ play talk of the town

0 Comments | Leave a Comment

Several days have passed since I witnessed one of the finest performances in my lifetime. I was fortunate enough to attend the play, “When Push Comes to Shove.” This play was written, directed and performed by one of the most talented families in the nation, the Sutton family.

I felt I would be remiss in my duties as a resident of Elizabeth City and a friend of the family if I did not write something for those who did not attend. It is my understanding that both performances were sold out, which is a testimony to what was expected by this talented family. The play included many social issues that families deal with on a day to day basis, humor and a great deal of exceptional gospel singing by the Suttons.

If you did not see this play, you missed the activity of the decade. It was so well done, that everyplace I go — from barbershops, beauty shops, church gatherings business meetings and other events — it is the talk of the town.

In addition, I am aware of individuals who traveled from New York and New Jersey to see this play. They are actually raving about what they witnessed in Elizabeth City, using adjectives such as “beautiful,” “unique,” “exceptional,” “professional,” “well done” and “marvelous.”

If this play is done again, please find the time to see it.
