Christmas. A specific date with very significant meaning to those of us who celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ as our risen Lord and savior. Think about that.

Totally agree Ms Koerber

well put and much needed.

That's rich . . .

"The only way the non-Christian community gets anything is by taking a Christian practice and perverting it." Oh, that's rich. While I celebrate CHRISTmas, I recognize that many of the trappings of Christmas derive from Pagan practices, including but not limited to the date, the Christmas Tree, boughs of Holly, the Yule Log and Mistletoe. There is nothing wrong with "Happy Holidays" as a greeting. "Holidays" is derived from Holy Days and encompasses an entire season of Holy Days, including MANY Christian Holy Days as well as Holy Days of other faiths. To criticize retailers for being inclusive -- and that is what some are doing -- is just wrong. They are selling products, not promoting religion. But I agree with your last sentence and that IS happening.

Gracious!!

Melanie, I missed you, where have you been, we have wandered around in the darkness without your direction!!

Indeed, Holly, indeed!

Our Savior is Christmas. As one statement makes it, you can't even say Christmas without saying Christ. The only way the non-Christian community gets anything is by taking a Christian practice and perverting it. I say erect the Nativity and the world's choices right beside them. Time will take care of the truth.
