Soured by three decades of high electric bills, customers of Elizabeth City’s power utility probably thought they’d never live to see the day someone would seriously say, “Rate relief is in sight.”

After all the years paying the higher rates, someone needs to stand up and make sure the equity the city has in the power plants is not given away to a corporation and shareholder profits. Try to build a nuclear power plant anywhere in America today and see how much it cost.
