After having their posteriors soundly booted, one would think the Republicans, or as I like to call them, “the gang that couldn’t think straight,” would retreat into the wilderness (read that Alaska), and lick their wounds.
But, no! The 2012 election campaign has started. Already the struggle has begun for the hearts and minds of the Republican base: you know, the banjo playing extras from “Deliverance.”
That dim-witted demagogue, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, persists in extolling the virtues of Joe, the unlicensed plumber, and insists that the bridge to nowhere does not lead to her. The rabid, rabble rouser, Newt Gingrich, has arisen from the depths, spewing his venomous calumny, this time directed at what he so fondly calls the brown-shirted fascist homosexual fifth column. God save us from those radical leftists that would have us dress our little boys in skirts and encourage our proper young ladies to try out for the football team.
Well, hopefully the nightmare is over for the present. The Republican revolution that began in the 1980s has come to an ignominious and near disastrous conclusion. It is high time we dropped the curtain on those benighted pranksters, the Republican leadership. Let them continue their vicious, hobgoblin ways off the main stage where they will remain, I’m sure, the beacon that will, as Shakespeare has written, “light fools the way to a dusty death.”

XL,
Suggest removalI did not point to republicans or democrats. I mentioned intolerance and hate filled rhetoric. You are arguing against fighting what you admit is wrong. How can you have such a double think mind set? If you speak out with everyone else we can get rid of the hate mongers together instead of complaining about how they will always be around.

Chris,
Suggest removalNot all those who voted Republican agree with everything every Republican ever said. I don't agree with Newt either on those particular issues, so I ignore him.
But there will always be Newts' and Rushs' and Rev. Wrights' and it's naive to think they will fade away after an election, more so to be so angered by their continued presence.

XL,
Suggest removalIf you can not comprehend not tolerating intolerance or hating hate filled rhetoric then you are lost to society.

Apparently the letter writer's TV remote has broken. If you don't want to hear Newt, change the channel. This letter to TDA is a subconscious wish that the GOP had won, so that the complaints, insults and incongruous Shakeapearian references could continue ad infinitum. Meanwhile we will wait for the Utopia he believes the Democrats can deliver.

If you act like a bigot don't get butt hurt when you are called on it.
