FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 6

Turkey Shoot

There will be a turkey shoot each Friday through Dec. 13 at the American Legion Fairgrounds, 1317 West Queen Street Extension in Edenton. The event begins at 7 p.m.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7

Youth Baseball Camp

The Edenton Aces will be holding a baseball camp for kids ages 8-14 from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Historic Hicks Field. Hot dogs and drinks will be on sale. The cost is $20 per player and a rain date is set for Nov. 14. Instruction will be focused on baseball skills and tips on how to become a college-level player and how to get recruiting attention.

Turkey Shoot

Belvidere-Chappell Hill Volunteer Fire Department, Drinking Hole Road, Belvidere, will hold a turkey shoot at 7 p.m., each Saturday in November. The shoot is for turkeys, hams, sausage and more. Only 12-, 20- and 4-10 gauge shotguns allowed. Ammunition will be provided. Refreshments will be available. No alcohol allowed.

Soccer Tryouts

The North Carolina Soccer and Athletic Academy will hold tryouts for a girls U14 travel soccer team from noon until 3 p.m. at the Moyock Elementary School fields. There is no fee to tryout and it is open to girls between the ages of 11 and 13 as of July 31, 2009.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 9

Youth Basketball Registration

Camden Parks and Recreation will hold sign-ups for youth basketball Nov. 9 and 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Camden Senior Center for boys and girls ages 5 to 15. The cost is $35.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 14

Horse Show

The Inter-County Saddle Club will host an open horse show at Meyler Farms, 233 Woodville Rd. in Hertford, beginning at 10 a.m. Show includes jumping, gaming, driving and western. There is no charge for spectators.

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 16

Youth Basketball

Registration for ECPRD’s youth basketball leagues will end Nov. 16. Games will be played Monday through Friday at 5:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost is $20 per player. Also, coaches are needed for all the youth basketball leagues.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21

Baseball Hitting Camp

Trot Nixon, former right-fielder for the Boston Red Sox, will headline a baseball hitting camp sponsored by the Perquimans County Youth League at the Perquimans youth League Field located on Center Hill Highway from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The camp is open to kids ages 8-12 and the cost is $50, which included lunch. Enrollment is limited.
