WINDSOR – Windsor Police Chief Justin Jackson said an arrest has been made in connection with a homicide Friday morning.

Evelyn House, 50, was found in her home Friday morning when she didn’t report for work.

The Windsor Police Department immediately began an investigation in the case - led by Det. Sgt. Jason Thomas, but Chief Jackson said his office received assistance from the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation along with the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday morning, Ronnie Williams was arrested in Newport News, Va. Williams, who was reportedly in a relationship with the victim, has been charged with first degree murder and is awaiting extradition back to North Carolina.

“My officers did an excellent job,” Chief Jackson said. “I am also grateful for the assistance of the SBI and the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office.”

No cause of death was released.
