Dr. Karl Engenius visited Edenton Lions once before. Great food? Great fellowship? Apparently both intrigued him because he was back seeking membership Monday night, Jan. 27.

A native of Deleware, Engenius is a board certified physician in both internal medicine and hematology.

Translation — internal medicine specialist who treats blood cancers such as leukemia, breast or lung cancer.

He graduated from Cornell University in New York state. Specifically, he finished med school at Weill Cornell University Medical School in 1965, in Canandaigua, New York.

Canandaigua is in Ontario County, about 25 miles southeast of Rochester, NY. In the 2016 census its population was 10,368. In other words, its a fur piece north of us!

An Edenton native from decades ago is now the apple of his eye. Dr. Karl does meticulous work. He is personable, approachable and blessed with a good sense of humor.

John Mitchener is past president of Edenton Lions Club, 2010-11.
