Timothy Lazar, principal at Grandy Primary School, has been selected as the 2016-17 Principal of the Year. Lazar has been with Camden County Schools for the last ten years. He has been principal at Grandy Primary for the past six years, and prior to becoming principal, he served as assistant principal for four years.
"Mr. Lazar is an outstanding educator. He places a great emphasis on reading and works closely with students and staff to meet the challenges of the Read to Achieve legislation,” Superintendent Melvin Hawkins said in a school district news release. “Through careful planning and ongoing use of student and teacher data, Mr. Lazar led Grandy Primary School to excellence. Mr. Lazar has many passions including his family, soccer and wrestling, but when it comes to his job, his greatest passion is helping the students, 'Prepare for their Future.'"
Lazar’s selection was announced at the October 13 Board of Education meeting.
