Tuesday Jan. 7, the Holiday Island Civic League held its monthly meeting.

Jonathan Nixon, Emergency Services Director, Bethany Buttram and Caitly Colson, both EMS Shift Supervisors, came to demonstrate a hands on CPR presentation.

Members of the civic league were able to practice CPR on dummies furnished by EMS. Later they brought out Lusas, an Automated Chest Compression System, which gives the EMS personnel time to perform other duties that otherwise they would not be able to do if they had to administer hands on CPR.

December’s meeting had Sheriff Shelby White as their guest speaker.

In February, a spokesman for the Red Cross will their speaker.
