Audrey Clark prepares to toss a football during the Football Toss Challenge at last year’s Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo Tailgate Party. This year’s Expo Tailgate Party will be Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the K.E. White Center.

The Elizabeth City Area Chamber of Commerce will host its Business Expo Tailgate Party on Thursday, the local business group’s annual trade show and premier networking event.

More than 40 vendors, including seven who’ve never participated before, will be showing off their products and services at the three-hour event, which will be held at the K.E. White Center from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are $25.

Holly Staples, president of the Elizabeth City Chamber of Commerce, said the Chamber has revised the expo over the years but it’s still a well-attended event.

“It’s a great way to inform people about your products and services,” she said. “For the people who attend, it’s a great networking event where you will learn about local services, sample food, beer and wine, and listen to music in a fun atmosphere.”

The Business Expo Tailgate Party will also again feature a Football Toss Challenge. Contestants will toss a football at targets to qualify for prizes that will include everything from designer sunglasses to tickets to a Washington Redskins home football game. Other prizes will include tickets to football games at Camden High School, Northeastern High School and Elizabeth City State University.

The expo is also offering ticket-holders a chance to win a trip to the destination of their dreams.

“You can enter to win a $500 gift card that is good for any airline serving customers at Norfolk International Airport,” Staples said. “Those raffle tickets will be sold in advance and during the expo. You don’t need to be present to win.”

Expo attendees will also have a chance to win a set of tires or football tailgate items from Perry Auto Group, Staples noted.

Ticket-holders also will enjoy a selection of delicious food samples prepared by area restaurants. Another expo highlight will be a “tiny house” B&M Contractors plans to bring to the event, Staples said.

Space is still available for other vendors who would like to participate at Thursday’s expo, she said.

According to Staples, the Chamber’s mission is to support and promote the business community in Camden County, the city of Elizabeth City and Pasquotank County. Businesses can join the Chamber by visiting its office at 502 E. Ehringhaus Street or by applying online at http://www.elizabethcitychamber.org.
