Czech Republic tops record infection surge in Eastern Europe

Coronavirus infections in the Czech Republic have hit a new record high for the second straight day, surpassing 5,000 cases in one day for the first time. The new confirmed day-to-day increase reached 5,335 on Wednesday, according to Health Ministry figures. It is almost 900 more than the previous record on Tuesday.
