EDENTON — The Chowan County Planning Board voted 3-2 Wednesday to recommend that the Chowan County Commission approve a conditional use permit for the Timbermill Wind project.

The combination of a proposed Dominion Power rate hike and last year’s rate cut by the Town of Hertford has narrowed a decades old gap between what Perquimans County customers pay.

With a voter turnout that measured in the single digits, U.S. Rep. Walter Jones won an easy victory last week, defeating two Republican challengers so he can advance to the November election.

A company that plans to build a wind turbine project in Perquimans and Chowan counties brought in their experts last week to answer questions about the project.

The Perquimans Arts League recently sponsored “The Healing Force” for Perquimans County Middle School students. The Healing Force is a family of singers, storytellers and musicians that offer students a cultural experience through rhythm and hands-on experiences.
