The Eastern Metro Athletic Conference named Mid-Atlantic Christian’s Caleb Whitley one of its baseball players of the week.
Apprentice School’s Braden Lambert was also honored.
The league made the announcement Tuesday.
Whitley, a freshman, went 3-for-5 at the plate, stole five bases and scored three runs against Penn State Mont Alto Sunday.
In Game 2 of the doubleheader, he stole a base, drove in a run and pitched seven innings, gave up five hits, two runs, one earned run and struck out seven batters in the Mustangs’ 7-2 win.
Mid-Atlantic Christian 6, Thomas Nelson Community College 5: MACU (3-15) earned the win in seven innings Tuesday at Northeastern High School.
MACU’s Hunter Hall led the Mustangs at the plate as he went 3-for-3 with a double, a run scored and two RBI, Austin Hansmeyer and Nick Boyle were each credited with an RBI and Caleb Whitley went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases.
Gabrial Rivera pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up a hit, three runs, one earned run, two walks and struck out four batters for the win.
Thomas Nelson’s Sean Leeks had two RBI, while Chase Mandic had a double with an RBI in the game.
