The 6th annual “Turkey Drop” collected 165 turkeys, food and monetary contributions which significantly exceeded the 2018 results.

Indeed, this demonstrates the continuing generosity of the people of Perquimans County in helping low-income people enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Hertford United Methodist Church and the Open Door Food Pantry of Perquimans County co-sponsored the Turkey Drop.

Two-hundred-seventy-one families were thankful for the Thanksgiving turkeys and trimmings that they received on November 25th at the Open Door Food Pantry location, 220 D Ocean Highway South.

The generous donations from local churches and individuals were genuinely appreciated. We thank the many volunteers who assisted with the curb side collection and the distribution of individualized Thanksgiving grocery bags.

We also thank the Hertford law enforcement personnel for directing traffic.

God bless our community.
